Bugibba, Qawra & St Paul's Bay
To the north west of St Julian is Bugibba, Qawra and St Paul’s Bay.
Overlooking Salina Bay is Qawra (pronounced ‘Aw-rah’) and Bugibba (pronounced ‘Boojiba’). Both resorts have modern pedestrianised centres with shops, bars and restaurants designed to cater mainly for British tastes.
St Paul’s Bay has a monumental place in Maltese history. It was here that the Apostle Paul and St Luke were washed ashore following their shipwreck in AD60, bringing Christianity to Malta. Despite its historic significance, the quaint fishing village of St Paul’s Bay has remained remarkably unaffected by tourism.
